Creme de la Creme

2007

Keenan

Mernet Reserve

$89.99

Robert Parker: 97 Points

The 2007 Mernet Reserve, a brilliant blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is prodigious. Floral notes interwoven with white chocolate, creme de cassis, graphite, licorice, and a hint of bay leaf are followed by a substantial, full-bodied wine with a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. The multilayered texture, depth of fruit, silky yet substantial tannins, and profound finish put it into the uber qualitative category. This wow wine is a brilliant example of what Michael Keenan has been accomplishing on Spring Mountain over the last five or more years. It should drink well for 20-25 years.

2007

Winter

Cabernet Sauvignon

$99.99

Wine Spectator: 95 points

Offers gorgeous fruit, with amazing purity of flavor, delivering rich, concentrated, supple layers of currant, blackberry, black licorice and mocha, with subtle loamy earth. Ends with a long, full and persistent finish. Drink now through 2019. 680 cases made. –JL

 Winemaker's notes:

The 2007 Winter Cabernet Sauvignon is an exceptionally structured pure wine with silky smooth tannins and dense, opulent rich fruit. It offers concentrated, supple layers of flavor of currant, blackberry, black licorice and mocha, with subtle loamy earth. The grapes come from our estate vineyard plus one additional vineyard site. Both vineyards are planted on well-drained soils that produce a low-yielding crop of highly concentrated fruit. These two sites allow Winter to capture varietal nuances expressed in each location. The wine has an exceptional long finish which rests pleasingly on the palate. The 2007 Winter can be enjoyed now, but will also age beautifully for up to twenty years.

2008

Kobalt

Cabernet Sauvignon

$84.99

Robert Parker: 94 points

A joint project between well-known winemaking consultant Mark Herold and Kevin Carriker, Kobalt’s big, blockbuster 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) boasts an inky/purple color as well as a big, sweet perfume of camphor, charcoal, blueberries, black currants and toasty oak. Superb fruit, a sweet, full-bodied mouthfeel, a multilayered texture and a long finish with abundant but sweet, nicely integrated tannins, this classic Napa Cabernet should be consumed over the next 15-18 years.

2006

Cliffe Lede's

Poetry

Cabernet Sauvignon

$99.99

Robert Parker: 96 points

The quintessential expression of an elegant Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry (86% Cabernet Sauvignon) combines elegance with power. Layered and full-bodied with an ethereal lightness as well as touches of oak and tannin, it is gorgeously pure and textured yet strikingly long and intense. Bursting with flavor, but neither heavy nor cloying, give it 3-4 years of cellaring, and enjoy it over the next 25+ years.
