Bounded by Tradition
Our Team
Our Team, small but mighty, comes from a wide background, with several carrying the status of 'Local Legend'.
CUrtis Worrall
Owner
Curtis Worrall wasn’t always the esteemed leader of Whispering Vine. In his earlier days, before The Vine was even a glimmer in his eye, Curtis was a bellman and valet in bustling Reno, NV. After 13 years of parking cars and handling luggage for the high and mighty, Curtis charted a new course with a charming coffee shop called The Purple Bean. Five years later, he shifted gears to follow his true love: the fine art of winemaking. With a bold leap into the world of fermented grapes, Curtis launched Whispering Vine. Now, over 25 years later, his wine venture has ebbed and flowed to two vibrant locations in Reno, cementing his place as a local legend in the wine world.
Brian Lalor
The Guy
Brian. Everyone knows Brian as the go-to guy for finding the perfect wine. He’s the trusted expert at Whispering Vine, always there behind the counter or just a call away.Back in 2000, Brian started as a bright-eyed rookie, his passion for wine quickly recognized by owner Curtis Worrall. Over the years, Brian has become Reno’s wine aficionado. If he’s not around, he’s likely with his son Jude, but our team will still ensure you find exactly what you need.
JOSH DAVIS
The Master of Morsels
Josh Davis, Head Chef at Whispering Vine, is the genius behind the mouthwatering dishes on our 4th Street menu. With nearly 25 years in the culinary world, Josh's journey from teenage prep cook to master chef includes stints at Luciano’s, the Art Institute of Seattle, and various top kitchens in Hawaii and Vermont. Now based in Reno, Josh thrives on the creative freedom at Whispering Vine, where he loves crafting exceptional food and wine in a warm, family-like atmosphere. While his high-energy kitchen style might come with a shout of “Get out of the kitchen!”, his passion for great food and a supportive team shines through in every dish.
SandY JAeger
Came with the building
Sandy, the Restaurant Manager and Events Coordinator at Whispering Vine’s 4th Street location, proudly “came with the building” from her previous role at Washoe Steakhouse. A Bay Area native and UC Davis graduate, Sandy has called Reno home for over 30 years, working in various restaurants like Hacienda del Sol and Craig’s.She loves her role at The Vine, cherishing the fantastic people she works with and finding joy in her busy days. When not managing spreadsheets or suggesting desserts, Sandy enjoys yard sales, teaching dance, playing the flute, and caring for her five cats and Whispering Vine’s mascot, Walker the feral feline. ¡También ella habla Español!

Notch team
Stewart Cameron
Winemaker
Stewart Cameron oversees our daily winery operations and is involved in all facets of winemaking at Notch along with Director of Winemaking Mike Sinor. After studying cellular and molecular biology in college, Stewart moved to San Luis Obispo. Here, found himself drawn to the wine industry. He caught the winemaking bug while working in a winery lab in Paso Robles, and he later joined Notch in 2006. He worked his way up to the position of assistant winemaker and was promoted to winemaker in 2013, demonstrating an innate talent for winemaking along the way.
Jamie Muniz
Vineyard Manager
Jaime Muniz has been working at Santa Margarita Ranch since the first grapes were planted in 1999. Jaime is a longtime Central Coast resident and a graduate from Paso Robles High School. When Notch co-owner and viticulturist Doug Filipponi took over vineyard operations in 2005, Jaime’s hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. A year later, Jaime was promoted to assistant vineyard manager and then to vineyard manager in 2009. “I’m always pushing hard, and I never stop learning,” he says. “I love working for a family-owned operation that is dedicated to quality.”
Mike Sinor
Director of Winemaking
Mike Sinor is recognized as one of the Central Coast’s highest-rated winemakers. His winemaking career on the Central Coast spans more than 20 years. At Notch Winery, Mike directs the quality and style of the wines, and he also oversees viticultural practices at the winery’s estate Margarita Vineyard. His first complete vintage with Notch was 2006. “The opportunity to work with Margarita Vineyard is what really drew me to Notch,” Mike says. “The growing conditions here are remarkable—and that’s something I’m driven to reflect in the wines of Notch.”
